Saint Cecilia Institute

“Faith formation is essential to our lives and that of the Church.  This formation is at the heart of the Church’s teaching mission in our parishes and institutions, for all our people, from the youngest to the oldest.  As adults, we baptized are called to on-going conversion to the person of Jesus Christ and his mission in the world.”
(Church of Northeast Nebraska, Archdiocesan Synod 2004.)

In response to the Synod mandate, the Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha is pleased to announce the establishment of the SAINT CECILIA INSTITUTE for Archdiocesan Formation of the Laity.  This new endeavor will be situated on the campus of Saint Cecilia Cathedral.

The focus of this Institute will be on the formation of the laity in the areas of worship, word and service.  These three aspects of ministry are the consequences of our baptismal identity in Jesus Christ and form the basis of our mandate to build up the kingdom of God until Christ returns in glory.

The Institute will be comprised of three academies.
Academy of Sacred Liturgy, Music, and the Arts.
Academy of Adult Faith Formation and Evangelization.
Academy of Lay Leadership and Social Witness.

A variety of educational and formational programs will be offered through the various academies both for enrichment as well as for certification and academic credit.

In addition to programs offered on the Cathedral Campus, other Institute programs will be available at off-site locations throughout the Archdiocese of Omaha.
